Indiana Special Olympics Needs Your Help

Dr. Bailey A Very SPECIAL Message from IOA President-Elect,
Dr. Jennifer Bailey

Dear Fellow IOA Members:

Special Olympics Indiana is hosting the 41st Summer Games at Indiana State University on Friday, June 4th through Sunday, June 6th.  More than 2,500 athletes from across the state will be "Driven to Win" in seven different Olympics-type sports.  This is an exciting weekend for the athletes and their families, and we Indiana optometrists have been given the opportunity to contribute to their experience in a very important fashion.

On Friday June 4th from Noon to 4pm and Saturday June 5th from 9am to 4pm, athletes will be receiving free vision screenings and a free pair of glasses and sunglasses.  However, we still need volunteer optometrists and others to make certain that we can provide the services these athletes so richly deserve.  Workers will assist with registration, helping the athletes through the screening, the exam portions, frame selection, and dispensing.

So, if you or anyone you know likes people and would like to see the good side of people, please have them come help.  We have had all sorts of people help in years past, including boy scouts and senior citizens. It is an experience you will not soon forget.  Many smiles.  Maybe even a serenade.  Definitely a great time!

If you work both days and need housing, we will provide.  We will also feed you!

Decide what time you will be available to help.  Then let me know your name, email, and address and I will get you registered.

Thank you.  I look forward to working with you soon.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Bailey, O.D.
