When and How to Prescribe Prism
Description: Prisms are a very useful tool for treating diplopia or asthenopia caused by various pathological or binocular vision conditions. Opinions vary in regards to how to best determine the amount of prism to prescribe so that even experts can differ on how much prism they might prescribe for the same patient. This presentation reviews the numerous categories of prisms commonly prescribed, discusses some basic clinical techniques for determining how much prism to prescribe, and presents several cases where prisms were successfully utilized along with a discussion of how the prism was used in the management of each case.
